COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1, the course covers a comprehensive range of modules that focus on financial management within an international context, giving you a strong foundation in both theory and practice. Core modules include Strategic Financial Management, which develops your ability to make high-level financial decisions aligned with organisational strategy, and Corporate Finance, which explores investment, financing, and dividend decisions in global markets. Quantitative Techniques for Financial Analysis equips you with analytical and numerical skills needed to interpret financial data and support evidence-based decision making, while Research Methods for Accounting and Finance prepares you to design, conduct, and evaluate applied research. Corporate Governance and Risk, a major core module, develops a deep understanding of governance frameworks, ethical responsibilities, and risk management in international organisations. A key element of the course is the opportunity to undertake an in-depth research project on a practical topic of interest, allowing you to apply your learning to real-world financial challenges. If you choose a placement or project year, the traditional Research Dissertation is replaced by a placement or project module, enabling you to gain valuable professional experience. Final options include completing a Dissertation for Accounting and Finance, a New Business Development Proposal, or a Case Study in Context, each designed to enhance practical skills and employability.
