COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the Biomedical Science program, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of research processes through a combination of theoretical and practical modules. The Research Project Preparation and Plan (BIS7022-B) module equips students with essential skills for planning and executing quantitative research projects. Students will develop the ability to plan, execute, and disseminate the outcomes of research, laying a strong foundation for their research projects.The Practical Molecular Biology (BIS7027-B) module combines both wet lab and computational elements, offering students the opportunity to undertake a short research project. They will become familiar with experimental techniques, optimize experimental conditions, and plan the stages of a research project while developing time management skills. This module prepares students for more extensive research projects by providing a detailed understanding of the process involved.The Research Project (BIS7026-E) module encourages self-direction and originality as students apply knowledge and problem-solving skills in practical research. This module challenges students to evaluate a current area of research critically, demonstrating their analytical, statistical, and IT skills in the presentation of a research report and a scientific poster. A viva voce assessment will also allow students to demonstrate their understanding and critical analysis of their research.Finally, the Practical Skills in Research (BIS7028-B) module helps students develop a deep understanding of advanced pharmacology techniques while fostering autonomy in learning. Students will enhance their research skills, written communication, and accurate data recording and analysis, preparing them for successful careers in biomedical research.
