COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of this program, students will engage with a variety of modules designed to provide a deep understanding of management, leadership, and policy within the health and social care sector.Understanding Health and Social Care through Policy and Strategy (LEM7033-C) aims to develop the ability to critically analyze the development, implementation, and evaluation of health and social care policies. Students will learn to apply different theories and models to develop and implement strategies, while considering the current national and international health and social care environments. The module also emphasizes evaluating strategy and policy after implementation using robust approaches.Leading Change and Service Improvement in Health and Social Care (LEM7034-C) focuses on managing change effectively. Students will learn how to diagnose areas where change is needed and apply a range of strategies to manage change successfully. The module also addresses quality and service improvement, with tools and techniques to enhance service delivery. Students will gain the skills necessary to manage complex behavioral and organizational challenges and lead individuals and teams across various professional, functional, and hierarchical boundaries to implement improvements.Management Project (LEM7006-E) is a practical module designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to undertake an in-depth management project. Students will address a management problem or opportunity using evidence-based approaches, and gain an understanding of various methods appropriate for completing such projects.Health and Social Care Leadership (LEM7031-C) explores a range of leadership theories and styles. Upon completion, students will be able to diagnose leadership contexts and select and apply the most suitable leadership approaches in health and social care settings.Managing People in Health and Social Care (LEM7032-C) covers the implications of the national and international health and social care environments on people management. Students will critically evaluate different theories and approaches used to plan, recruit, manage, and develop the workforce, while applying these approaches to manage people effectively within the sector.
