COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Group Project (COS7048-B) module provides students with hands-on experience in managing and executing a research project related to computer science, such as Artificial Intelligence or Big Data. Students apply project management principles to address a specific research problem, working either on computational solutions or by developing functional software systems. The module emphasizes professionalism, teamwork, and the consideration of legal, social, and ethical issues. The Advanced Machine Learning (COS7045-B) module explores AI applications in solving big data challenges. It helps students develop expertise in machine learning algorithms, predictive modeling, and data clustering. The module equips students with both theoretical and practical knowledge to select and apply appropriate techniques for real-world problems. The Dissertation (COS7004-E) provides an opportunity for individual research where students apply their learned skills to design a solution for a practical problem. This module allows students to demonstrate their ability to work independently while addressing social, ethical, and professional issues. Software Development (COS7009-B) introduces students to programming, focusing on creating software solutions for data science, AI, and other fields. The course emphasizes problem-solving in areas like climate change, epidemic control, and social justice through software automation and data analysis. Finally, the Cloud AI (COS7054-B) module offers a general conceptual understanding of cloud computing and AI, focusing on cloud services like Amazon Web Services (AWS). This module does not require a technical background but provides an overview of cloud AI frameworks and their business applications. Together, these modules offer a comprehensive foundation for students to develop critical skills in AI, machine learning, software development, and cloud technologies.
