In the first year, students engage in a combination of finance, management, and accounting modules that provide a comprehensive foundation for their studies. The Dissertation (AFE) module (MAL7502-E) offers students the opportunity to produce original research related to the taught components of the program, demonstrating a deep understanding of specific areas within finance. The Strategic Management module (SIB7501-B) introduces students to strategic management concepts and the application of relevant frameworks in decision-making processes. The Analytics in Finance and Accounting module equips students with analytical techniques and tools for evaluating financial and accounting data to inform decision-making. Operations Management (OIM7503-A) focuses on the key areas of operations management, highlighting how operations are integral to the success of organizations. Students learn about the production of goods and services, as well as the importance of effective operations in maintaining organizational efficiency. The Contemporary Issues in Accounting and Finance module examines current trends and challenges in the field, ensuring students are equipped with an up-to-date understanding of industry developments. The Business Economics module (AFE7504-A) provides a sound understanding of economic concepts at the household, firm, and government levels, helping students grasp the macroeconomic factors that influence decision-making. Finally, the Strategic Management Accounting module (AFE7506-B) delves into the role of management accounting information in the development and implementation of business strategies, including the social and environmental benefits of adopting contemporary accounting techniques like environmental management accounting.
