COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the program, students will explore several key topics related to economics, development, and applied econometrics. The Applied Econometrics module (DEV7024-B) introduces students to quantitative methods and regression techniques using relevant software packages. This module combines lectures and practical sessions to help students understand and apply analytical techniques in real-world scenarios.The Dissertation module (PES7040-E) provides students with an opportunity to develop advanced knowledge and skills through a self-directed dissertation project. It encourages critical inquiry and effective time management, allowing students to showcase their learning and research capabilities.The Finance for Development module (DEV7001-B) critically analyzes the role of finance in economic development, exploring the connections between economic theories and the challenges of financing development, particularly in developing countries. Similarly, the Economic Growth and Development module (DEV7007-B) aims to deepen students’ understanding of the growth process and policies that can improve growth prospects in developing and transitional economies.The International Economics module (DEV7008-B) delves into the role of international trade in economic development, analyzing the relationship between trade policy and growth, particularly in the context of developing countries. Together, these modules provide students with a solid foundation in economic theory and its application to real-world development issues.
