COURSE CURRICULUM

The physiotherapy program is structured to provide both foundational knowledge and practical experience in clinical settings. In Year 1, students begin with Clinical Knowledge Foundations (PAR4500-B), where they learn about human physiology, pathophysiology, and anatomy. This knowledge is crucial for later application in practice. The Foundations of Clinical Assessment (PAR4501-B) module allows students to interact directly with patients, using their theoretical learning to assess and treat patients under supervision. In Exercise Theory and Prescription (PAR4502-B), students gain the skills to create personalized exercise plans, teaching a variety of individuals in different settings. The Personal and Professional Development 1 (PAR4503-B) module focuses on developing professional attributes, including communication and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Investigating Health (PAR4504-B) introduces fundamental research concepts and data collection methods, laying the groundwork for research throughout the program. The Health Promotion and Public Health (PAR4505-B) module helps students understand the physiotherapist's role in public health promotion and engaging with local to global health strategies.In Year 2, students undertake practice placements with M-Physiotherapy Year 2 Practice Placement B and M-Physiotherapy Year 2 Practice Placement A. Modules like Fundamentals of Assessment and Rehabilitation and Developing Physiotherapy Practice deepen their clinical expertise, while Trauma Management focuses on handling injury-related situations. Personal and Professional Development 2 further enhances students’ professional growth.In Year 3, students tackle complex clinical situations with modules like Leadership and Management and Injury Rehabilitation. The M-Physiotherapy Year 3 Practice Placement offers more advanced hands-on experience, and students also engage in Complex Case Management. Critiquing Research and Designing Research help develop analytical skills necessary for evidence-based practice.In the Final Year, modules like Enhancing Sports Performance, Wider Determinants of Physical Activity, and Implementing Research prepare students for the practical application of research in the real world. Employability and Professional Development ensures students are ready for professional practice, and additional Practice Placement Hours provide further clinical experience.
