COURSE CURRICULUM

The program begins with foundational modules in the first year. Contract Law focuses on the principles related to contract formation, content, and breakdown, providing essential knowledge for further legal studies. Introduction to Legal Skills aims to develop academic, ethical, and clinical legal abilities while fostering employability. Law of Tort covers non-contractual relationships and rights protected by tort law, addressing both legal principles and their socio-political context. Public Law introduces students to the British Constitution, the separation of powers, and democratic processes, while also examining constitutional reforms. Legal System: Sources and Institutions explores how English and Welsh law is created, developed, and applied in an international context. The Human Rights module focuses on key issues surrounding human rights in both national and international settings.In the second year, Criminal Law provides a detailed understanding of criminal offences, liability, and contemporary reform proposals. Equity & Trust offers a comprehensive study of trusts, including trustee duties, breaches, and legal consequences, while emphasizing legal analysis. EU and International Law helps students understand the international framework in which English law operates and enhances their research skills. Land Law covers the principles of land ownership, acquisition, and enforcement, considering political and socio-economic factors. Clinical and Employability Skills in Context works on enhancing employability, ethical awareness, and legal research skills.The third year offers a study abroad or placement year, allowing students to gain practical experience. In the final year, students complete a Law Dissertation, either extended or standard, where they research a relevant topic of their choice. This research project provides an opportunity to apply academic skills and deepen subject knowledge through an extended process of inquiry. The program combines foundational legal knowledge, practical experience, and research, preparing students for a career in law or further study.
