The Business Economics program provides a thorough grounding in both the theoretical and practical aspects of business and economics. In Year 1, students are introduced to essential concepts and principles in modules such as Business Economics (AFE4001-B), which covers micro and macroeconomic environments and the global economy, and Foundations of Marketing (MAR4002-B), which builds a strong understanding of marketing practices. Introduction to Accounting (AFE4005-B) offers students insight into financial and management accounting techniques, while Principles and Practices of International Business (SIB4001-B) familiarizes them with international business theories and frameworks. The module Principles of Responsible Management and Practice (OIM4013-B) explores sustainable business practices and responsible management techniques, preparing students to consider both environmental and social impacts in business decision-making.In Year 2, the focus shifts to the application of business concepts. Entrepreneurship and Employability (HRM5015-B) equips students with the skills necessary to engage in entrepreneurial processes and enhance their employability. International Business Strategy (SIB5001-B) delves into global business strategies, while European Business and Management (SIB5006-B) addresses managing businesses in a European context with a focus on sustainable development and the EU Single Market. Business Law and Ethics (LAW4004-B) covers the ethical considerations that affect both law and business practices, enhancing students' commercial awareness.In Year 3, students have the opportunity for a study abroad or placement year, allowing them to gain valuable real-world experience. In the final year, students complete the Final Year Business Project (HRM6013-D), an individual project that consolidates their learning and applies it to a significant business or management challenge, emphasizing responsible management and sustainability. The modules Current Issues in International Business (SIB6007-B) and Cross-Cultural Management (SIB6009-B) focus on the practical applications of international business theories and managing cross-cultural differences in global business contexts. Finally, Multinationals in Emerging Economies (SIB6011-B) examines the opportunities, challenges, and strategies for multinational companies operating in emerging economies, highlighting the global shift towards companies from developing regions.
