COURSE CURRICULUM

The Artificial Intelligence and Computing programme is structured to build strong technical knowledge, practical computing skills, and professional expertise over three years. In the first year, students establish a solid foundation in core computing concepts by studying Mathematics for Computing, which develops analytical and problem-solving abilities essential for programming and AI. Technical and Professional Skills prepares students for teamwork, communication, and workplace expectations, while Fundamentals of Programming introduces software development using industry-relevant programming techniques. Computer Architecture and Systems Software provides an understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and system-level functionality, while Internet Technologies explores web development, networking fundamentals, and online applications. Software Design and Development teaches students how to design, build, and test reliable software solutions using modern development practices. During the second year, students expand their technical expertise through Database Systems, learning data storage, management, and retrieval techniques, alongside Data Structures and Algorithms, which improve computational efficiency and programming performance. Artificial Intelligence introduces intelligent systems, search methods, reasoning, and problem-solving approaches, while AI: Ethics and Impact examines the responsible development and societal implications of AI technologies. Enterprise-Pro develops professional and entrepreneurial capabilities through practical projects, and Computer Communications and Networks provides an understanding of networking technologies, communication protocols, and secure data transmission. In the final year, students apply their accumulated knowledge through a substantial Final Year Project, demonstrating independent research, software development, and problem-solving skills. Advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning provide in-depth knowledge of intelligent algorithms, predictive modelling, neural networks, and real-world AI applications. Students further personalise their learning by selecting optional modules such as Large Scale Data Driven Applications, Numerical Methods and Computer Graphics, Concurrent and Distributed Systems, or Software Systems Design and Testing. Together, the curriculum prepares graduates with advanced technical expertise, practical experience, ethical awareness, and industry-ready skills for careers in artificial intelligence, software engineering, data science, machine learning, systems development, and related computing professions.
