This public health and wellbeing program provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the field of health and social care. In the first year, modules like "Preparing for Professional Practice" and "Community Development and Engagement in Multicultural Populations" help students develop an understanding of professional development needs and the significance of community engagement in multicultural contexts. The "Introduction to Public Health" module introduces core public health concepts, including public health practice and career opportunities, while "Lifestyle Choice and Behaviour Change" explores psychological theories behind personal decision-making and behaviour modification. The "Inequalities in Society" module delves into the social determinants of health, examining how various inequalities impact individual and societal wellbeing. Students also learn about social policy and its effects on welfare and society in the "Social Policy, Society and Welfare" module.In the second year, students deepen their understanding of public health through modules such as "Health Education and Promotion," which focuses on health promotion strategies and their real-world implications. "Mental Health and Wellbeing" covers public mental health from a global and UK perspective, emphasizing social interventions to promote mental wellbeing. The "Placement: Professional Practice" module gives students the opportunity to apply their academic learning in a real-world public health setting. "Evaluating Public Health Research" introduces students to data generation and evaluation methods in health-related research, while "Public Health: Prevention in Action" allows students to critically analyze public health strategies, epidemiological data, and policy implementation.In the final year, students explore topics such as "Policy and Politics in Health and Wellbeing," examining the factors that shape public health policy. "Project Management and Evaluation" equips students with the skills necessary for managing and evaluating public health projects. The "Ethical Challenges in Public Health" module addresses ethical issues in public health practice, and the "Independent Study: Finding Health Solutions" provides an opportunity for students to conduct independent research on a public health issue. The program concludes with "Surviving and Thriving in Organisations," focusing on resilience and effectiveness in organizational settings, preparing students for future roles in public health and related sectors.
