COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1, the program starts with modules aimed at building essential professional and academic skills. Personal and Professional Development 1 (PAR4503-B) focuses on developing professional attributes, including working with diverse groups and maintaining a work-life balance. Investigating Health (PAR4504-B) introduces research concepts and methods, laying the groundwork for research-focused modules later in the program. Health Promotion and Public Health (PAR4505-B) explores public health strategies and the physiotherapist’s role in promoting health, both locally and globally. Clinical Knowledge Foundations (PAR4500-B) provides foundational knowledge in human physiology, pathophysiology, and anatomy, which is essential for the subsequent Foundations of Clinical Assessment (PAR4501-B), where students begin working directly with patients in the university-based physiotherapy clinic. The Exercise Theory and Prescription (PAR4502-B) module equips students with the skills to prescribe safe, effective, and evidence-based exercises tailored to individuals in various settings. In the second year, students engage in two core practice placements (BSc Year 2 Practice Placement A and B), allowing them to apply their learning in real-world physiotherapy settings. They also delve into the Fundamentals of Assessment and Rehabilitation, Developing Physiotherapy Practice, and Critical Analysis of Research, deepening their understanding of the profession. Personal and Professional Development 2 builds on earlier development, enhancing their ability to work professionally in clinical environments.In the final year, students participate in two core practice placements (BSc Practice Placement Year 3 A and B), gaining hands-on experience in physiotherapy. The program focuses on Complex Case Management, Leadership and Management, and Employability, helping students prepare for a career in physiotherapy. Additionally, students develop a Research Proposal, honing their research skills while completing Practice Placement Hours to fulfill their program requirements.
