COURSE CURRICULUM

The nursing program is structured to provide students with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical experience in nursing care. In Year 1, the Nursing and Academic Practice module (NUR4501-C) offers foundational knowledge on concepts such as homeostasis, the respiratory system, and the cardiovascular system. This knowledge prepares students for their first practice placement, where they gain practical experience. The Practice Learning - Part 1 module (NUR4505-E) introduces students to practice learning across various fields, helping them develop both general and field-specific nursing skills. The Social Concepts of Nursing module (NUR4503-C) explores the social determinants of health and their impact on well-being, enriching students' understanding of health across different life stages.In Year 2, students focus on Evidence-Based Healthcare (NUR5501-C), learning research methodologies and how evidence informs service improvements. The Practice Learning - Part 2 module (NUR5505-E) builds on previous learning by promoting greater independence and preparing students for future employment. The Promoting Health module (NUR5504-C) develops students' understanding of health promotion strategies, examining how national and public health policies affect practice. Students also complete their practice hours (NUR5506-Z) and health numeracy assessments (NUR5507-Z) as part of the program’s requirements.In the final year, the Preparing for Professional Practice module (NUR6501-B) supports the transition from student to registered nurse, focusing on leadership, teamwork, and collaboration. The Integrated Approaches to Mental Health Across the Lifespan module (NUR6504-B) prepares students to deliver mental health care using an evidence-based approach. The Practice Learning - Part 3 module (NUR6511-E) ensures students are ready for registration and employment, while the Managing Therapeutic Approaches and Facilitating Therapeutic Interventions within Mental Health Care module (NUR6508-B) focuses on applying therapeutic interventions in mental health care. Students also complete the final practice hours (NUR6512-Z), ensuring all professional requirements are met for registration.
