COURSE CURRICULUM
The nursing program is designed to provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to become professional nurses. In Year 1, students begin with the Nursing and Academic Practice module (NUR4501-C), which introduces them to essential nursing concepts such as homeostasis, the respiratory system, and the cardiovascular system. This foundational knowledge prepares students for their first practice placement. In Practice Learning - Part 1 (NUR4505-E), students gain hands-on experience in various nursing fields, developing essential skills. The Social Concepts of Nursing module (NUR4503-C) explores the social determinants of health, helping students understand how these factors influence well-being across the lifespan. In Year 2, the focus shifts to evidence-based healthcare with the module Evidence Based Healthcare (NUR5501-C), where students learn about research methodologies and how evidence impacts service improvement. The Practice Learning - Part 2 module (NUR5505-E) consolidates the nursing skills learned in Year 1, helping students become more independent and confident in their practice. The Promoting Health module (NUR5504-C) explores health promotion models and strategies to support positive behavior change, analyzing the impact of national and public health policies. Students also track their practice hours (NUR5506-Z) and complete the NMC health numeracy assessment (NUR5507-Z) to meet required proficiencies. In the Final Year, the Preparing for Professional Practice module (NUR6501-B) helps students transition from student to registered nurse, focusing on leadership, team working, and collaboration. The Integrated Acute Care of the Adult module (NUR6502-B) develops students' critical thinking and practical skills needed for the care of acutely unwell adults. Practice Learning - Part 3 (NUR6511-E) prepares students for registration, ensuring they meet all required competencies. The Management of Complex Care of the Adult module, along with the Practice Hours - Stage 3 module (NUR6512-Z), ensures that students complete their hours and meet NMC standards for health and character, preparing them for professional practice.
