COURSE CURRICULUM

MSc in Mechanical Engineering will equip you with advanced knowledge and practical expertise in mechanical systems, transport, and automotive engineering technologies. The program provides a strong foundation in core areas, including sensors, actuators, control strategies, and interface technologies, which you will apply to electro-mechanical systems in the Mechanical Dynamics and Mechatronics unit, developing skills in design, analysis, and system integration. The Applied Heat Transfer, Thermofluids, and Computational Fluid Dynamics unit further enhances your understanding of thermodynamic principles, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer processes, enabling you to analyse and optimise complex mechanical and thermal systems. In the Advanced Mechanical Systems and Sustainable Energy Systems unit, you will explore sustainability concepts, mechanical and thermal energy principles, and the design and performance analysis of sustainable energy systems, with opportunities to produce preliminary designs for power and energy applications. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on applying theoretical knowledge to real-world problems, developing practical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. The MSc culminates in a substantial independent project, allowing you to integrate and apply your learning to a topic of personal or professional interest.
