Financial Economics MSc will provide you with comprehensive knowledge and skills at the intersection of modern economics and finance, preparing you for analytical and strategic roles in global business and financial markets. The Economics and Financial Markets unit introduces core principles of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and financial markets, exploring the functions of financial systems, key financial instruments, and differences between national financial systems. Advanced Management Accounting equips you with critical tools and techniques to support managerial decision-making, optimise revenue, control costs, and integrate financial planning with effective business strategies. The course also examines theories of International Trade and Monetary Policy, allowing you to understand the dynamics of cross-border trade, migration, foreign direct investment, and the rationale for trade restrictions, while analysing the operations, challenges, and advancements of international and European monetary systems, balance of payment issues, and exchange rate movements. In the Strategy unit, you develop a critical understanding of business environments and opportunities, applying tools for strategic analysis and business modelling to assess organisational positions, formulate strategies, evaluate options, and implement decisions effectively. The program concludes with a Capstone unit, where you integrate theory and practice through an independent research project on a topic relevant to your interests, supported by research methods training and guidance from a supervisor, ensuring you gain the analytical, practical, and research skills required for success in financial economics.
