COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Cyber Crime, Terrorism, and Security provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary exploration of information security, cyberlaw, human rights, and cybersecurity, combining theoretical understanding with practical application. The program covers key topics such as ethical hacking, cyber criminology, and terrorism, offering a unique perspective that integrates the fields of cybercrime and cybersecurity. Students from social science backgrounds gain familiarity with cybercrime, cyberlaw, and human rights while developing practical skills in information security, including security scanning, incident response, and basic penetration testing. Those from technology backgrounds deepen their practical cybersecurity expertise while expanding their understanding of the criminological and legal aspects of cyber threats, enabling them to integrate technical knowledge with insights into criminal behaviour and security policy. Throughout the course, students engage in practical exercises, case studies, and real-world simulations, developing hands-on skills in digital investigations and cybersecurity, and benefiting from exposure to law enforcement agencies, cybersecurity firms, and other organisations through guest lectures and field visits. The program also includes training in research methodologies, preparing students for rigorous academic or professional research. It culminates in an MSc Project in Cyber Crime, Terrorism and Security, where students apply their knowledge to develop an artefact or solution, with opportunities to gain professional certifications alongside their academic qualification, enhancing career prospects in cybersecurity, law enforcement, policy, and research.
