COURSE CURRICULUM

The course is structured over three years to develop a strong understanding of public health concepts, research, and practical application. In the first year, students are introduced to the foundations of public health, including its origins, key approaches to health promotion, and the role of primary healthcare. They also develop essential academic skills and explore issues such as behaviour change, inclusivity, and health inequalities. In the second year, the focus expands to global and policy perspectives. Students examine international public health challenges, study how policies and strategies shape health outcomes, and explore specific areas such as maternal and child health, disease prevention, and mental health. They also develop research skills needed to analyse and address public health issues. In the final year, students focus on professional practice and advanced analytical skills. They study epidemiology and biostatistics to understand disease patterns and risk factors, and explore the determinants of health and ways to reduce inequalities. Leadership and management skills are also developed to prepare for future careers. The course concludes with a public health project, where students design and carry out research, analyse data, and apply their knowledge to real-world health challenges, preparing them for roles in public health and related fields.
