COURSE CURRICULUM

The course is structured over three years to build a comprehensive understanding of psychology, combining theory, research, and practical application. In the first year, students are introduced to the foundations of psychology, including its history and key cognitive and biological concepts, while also exploring how psychological theories relate to everyday life, such as social behaviour and mental health. Optional units allow further insight into areas like criminal behaviour or counselling. In the second year, the focus shifts to core areas of psychology in greater depth, including cognitive psychology, where students study how people process information, and biological psychology, which examines the relationship between the brain and behaviour. Students also explore social processes and human development across the lifespan, as well as different professional roles within psychology. In the final year, students complete a research project and study advanced topics such as mental health and cultural influences on behaviour. They also have the opportunity to specialise through optional units, including child development, neuropsychology, critical social psychology, and problem solving. This structure equips students with strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills for future careers or further study.
