COURSE CURRICULUM

The Fashion Design BA (Hons) course provides students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills across fashion, art, and design, combining creative exploration with technical development. Students begin by studying key theories in art and design and their influence on culture and society, while developing their creativity through experimenting with materials, textiles, and design methods. They learn essential production techniques such as pattern cutting, sewing, and transforming two-dimensional ideas into three-dimensional garments, alongside gaining an understanding of industrial production processes and ethical considerations in fashion. As the course progresses, students build on these skills by researching, testing, and refining creative approaches, while learning to take and manage creative risks. They also explore critical debates and global perspectives in art and design, using this knowledge to inform their work. Practical experience is gained through collaborative projects and interdisciplinary work, helping students apply their skills in real-world contexts. In the final stages, students complete a major project where they design and present a fashion collection to the public. The course also focuses on professional development, teaching students how to present and promote their work, build a portfolio, and prepare for careers in the creative industries or further study.
