COURSE CURRICULUM

The Public Health MSc program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to address health challenges at local, national, and global levels. The course provides a strong foundation in research methods, including study design and philosophy, enabling students to critically evaluate and conduct public health research. Core modules such as epidemiology and statistics develop analytical skills for understanding disease patterns and health trends, while health protection and prevention focus on strategies to reduce risks and improve population health. Students also explore health promotion and behaviour change, learning how to design interventions that encourage healthier lifestyles. The program includes public health project management, preparing students to plan, implement, and evaluate health initiatives effectively. A major component of the course is the dissertation, where students carry out independent research on a relevant public health topic. In addition to compulsory modules, students can choose optional subjects such as comparative health systems, global health and social inequalities, leadership, or a voluntary sector placement, allowing them to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. Overall, the program develops research, analytical, and leadership skills, preparing graduates for careers in public health practice, policy, and research.
