COURSE CURRICULUM

The Software Engineering BSc (Hons) program is a three-year course designed to equip students with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to design, develop, and maintain modern software systems. In year one, students are introduced to the fundamentals of computing, including programming, computer systems, communications, web development, and database design. This stage focuses on building strong problem-solving abilities and a solid understanding of core software engineering principles. In year two, students advance their knowledge by studying data structures and algorithms, systems design, and object-relational databases, while also gaining experience in web programming and mobile application development. A key feature of this year is the group project, which allows students to collaborate on real-world software development tasks, enhancing teamwork and project management skills. In year three, the program focuses on advanced and contemporary topics such as software testing, development operations, modern databases, and artificial intelligence. Students explore both theoretical and applied aspects of AI and modern software practices. The final year also includes a substantial dissertation project, where students undertake independent work on a chosen topic, demonstrating their technical and research abilities. Overall, the course prepares graduates for careers in software development and related fields.
