COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology BSc (Hons) program is a three-year course that provides a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour, mental processes, and research methods, while gradually allowing students to specialise in areas of interest. In year one, students build a strong foundation through compulsory modules that introduce key psychological approaches, including social, cognitive, biological, and developmental psychology. They also develop essential academic and practical skills such as research design, data analysis, communication, and problem-solving, while exploring how psychology applies to real-world issues. In year two, students deepen their knowledge by studying core areas such as personality, development, cognition, and biological processes, alongside conceptual and historical perspectives in psychology. They also enhance their research and statistical skills through independent and group projects, with opportunities to choose optional modules in areas like wellbeing, education, and human behaviour. In year three, students have greater flexibility to specialise in advanced topics aligned with their career goals, such as forensic psychology, mental health, health psychology, neuroscience, and organisational psychology. A major component of the final year is the dissertation, where students conduct independent research with academic guidance. Overall, the program develops critical thinking, research expertise, and practical skills, preparing graduates for diverse careers or further postgraduate study.
