COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Computer Science program is structured to provide a thorough grounding in both the theoretical and practical dimensions of computing. In the first year, students build essential foundations through modules in problem solving and programming, mathematics for computer science, computer systems, computer communications, web development, and software engineering fundamentals. These modules introduce core skills in coding, logic, systems design, and communication technologies while encouraging problem-solving approaches. The second year develops more advanced technical abilities through relational databases, data structures and algorithms, operating systems, and systems design and development. Practical teamwork and applied learning are emphasized through the group project, alongside web programming which enhances development skills for modern applications. In the final year, students explore specialist and emerging areas including media technology, modern databases, cybersecurity with applied cryptography, and artificial intelligence concepts and applications. The program culminates with the computing project dissertation, a substantial independent research and development project allowing students to demonstrate technical knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving in a chosen area of computing. Through this structured progression, students gain expertise in programming, systems analysis, software development, security, AI, and database technologies, preparing them for diverse career paths in computing or further postgraduate study.
