COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Health and Social Care Practice degree is structured over three years to provide a progressive development of academic, professional, and leadership skills. In the first year, students focus on building foundational knowledge and competencies, exploring current issues in health and social care, and understanding how their roles impact collaboration with others. The curriculum encourages critical thinking about social justice, innovative approaches, and the use of technology to support sustainable solutions. In the second year, the focus shifts to examining how policy, practice, and research have addressed the diverse needs within health and social care. A work-related learning module offers practical experience, enabling students to develop the skills and knowledge that are highly valued by employers, while applying theoretical learning in real-world contexts. The final year emphasizes leadership, research, and project work, allowing students to specialize in areas of interest such as working with young people or supporting the ageing population. The Leadership module provides the opportunity to gain a Chartered Management Institute Level 5 Principles of Leadership Practice award upon successful completion, enhancing professional recognition and employability. Across all three years, the program integrates practical experience, critical reflection, and professional development, equipping graduates with the expertise, confidence, and leadership skills required to pursue careers in health and social care or to undertake further study.
