COURSE CURRICULUM

The Hair, Make-Up and Prosthetics for Stage and Screen degree is structured over three years to provide students with a comprehensive combination of practical skills, creative exploration, and professional preparation. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation through modules such as Make-up for Stage, Screen and In-between, Hair for Stage, Screen and In-between, Cosmetic Constitutions, and Introduction to Fantasy Transformation. These modules develop essential technical skills in hair and make-up application, while exploring the relationship between identity and aesthetic transformation. The second year builds on this foundation with advanced study in prosthetics and character creation, including modules such as Introducing Prosthetics, Character Transformation in a Transmedia Universe, Advanced Hair, Wigs and Design, Burnished, Buffed and Brushed, and Researching Trends in Hair, Make-up and Prosthetics. Students gain hands-on experience combining hair, make-up, and prosthetic techniques, alongside research into current industry trends. In the final year, the focus shifts to professional preparation and industry readiness through modules including Professional Skills and Industry Etiquettes, a Short Dissertation, Breaking the Mould: Advanced Prosthetics and 3D Design, and Showcasing Hair, Make-up and Prosthetics. These experiences enable students to consolidate their skills, develop innovative creative work, and present a polished professional portfolio, equipping them for careers within the dynamic hair, make-up, and prosthetics sector of the creative industries.
