COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Graphic Design degree is structured over three years to provide students with a comprehensive blend of creative exploration, technical skill development, and professional preparation. In the first year, students engage with foundational modules such as Exploring Creative Practice, Roles and Contexts, Creative Projects, and Critical and Cultural Perspectives. These modules introduce core design principles, encourage experimentation, and develop critical thinking, enabling students to understand the broader cultural and professional context of their work. The second year focuses on advancing practical skills and collaborative practice through modules including Graphic Design in Action, Creative Collaborations, Visual and Material Culture, Typographic Practice, and Design Innovation. Students work on more complex projects, explore cross-disciplinary collaboration, and refine their technical abilities, preparing them for professional-level work. In the final year, emphasis shifts to industry readiness and professional development, with modules such as the Professional Portfolio, Careers for Graphic Designers, and Industry Briefs. These provide opportunities for students to consolidate their learning, engage with real-world design challenges, and build a polished portfolio that demonstrates their creativity and technical expertise.
