COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Games Art degree is structured over three years, providing a progressive development of skills in both artistic creation and practical game production. In the first year, students build foundational skills through compulsory modules including Drawing Fundamentals, 2D and 3D Game Asset Production, 3D Character Art, Material Development for Games, and a Group Game Project: Fundamentals. These modules focus on introducing core techniques, artistic principles, and collaborative practices essential for producing game assets. The second year expands on this foundation with more advanced modules such as 3D Environment Modelling, Digital Sculpting Fundamentals, Concept Art Techniques, 3D Art for Game Engines, and Digital Sculpting for Character Art. Students also participate in the Group Game Project: Advanced, which emphasizes teamwork and real-world project management, allowing them to apply creative skills within a collaborative game development context. In the final year, the program prepares students for industry practice through modules including Professional Game Industry Practice, Group Game Project: Industry Practice, Visual Design and Development, and the Game Industry Report. Students culminate their learning with the Final Major Game Project, producing a comprehensive body of work that demonstrates their technical proficiency, artistic creativity, and ability to contribute effectively to game development teams. Across all years, the course combines artistic training, technical application, and collaborative experience to equip graduates for careers in the games industry.
