COURSE CURRICULUM

The Criminology with Psychology degree provides a well-rounded curriculum that integrates the study of crime and criminal justice with the understanding of human behavior and psychology. In the first year, students are introduced to key criminology modules such as Crime and Society, The Science of Crime and Criminals, and Becoming a Criminologist, alongside essential psychology topics including Introduction to Psychology and Psychology for Life. These modules build a foundation in both disciplines, focusing on understanding crime, criminal behavior, and psychological principles. In the second year, the program advances to cover areas such as Crime and Justice, Advanced Criminological Theory, Ethics and Professional Practice, and Advanced Methodologies, which develop analytical and research skills. Students also explore Development and Society and Personality & the Fundamentals of Psychology, enhancing their understanding of human development and individual differences. The final year allows for specialization and deeper integration of both subjects through a joint Criminology and Psychology Dissertation. Core topics include Crime and Punishment, The Psychology of Mental Health, and Forensic Psychology, alongside optional modules such as Critiquing Criminalistics, Global Perspectives of Crime, and Social Injustices. This structure ensures students graduate with both subject expertise and transferable skills, preparing them for diverse careers in criminal justice, psychology, and related fields.
