COURSE CURRICULUM

The Criminal and Corporate Investigation degree offers a structured learning journey that builds knowledge and skills year by year. In the first year, students focus on the foundations of investigative techniques, gaining insight into the criminal justice system, legislation, evidence, and crime scene theory. Modules such as Law and the Criminal Justice System, Legislation for Policing and Investigators, and Theoretical Concepts in Crime Scene Investigations provide a solid base, while practical elements like Investigative Interviewing and the study of evidence and procedure develop early professional competence. The second year allows students to explore more complex areas of investigation, including Covert Investigations and Serious and Organised Crime, alongside core studies in Crime and Criminal Investigation, Investigative Interviewing, and the Management of Major Investigations. Research skills and the use of open-source intelligence are also introduced, enhancing analytical and professional development. In the final year, students delve deeper into specialist areas with modules covering Cyber Crime, Employment Investigations, and Miscarriages of Justice, as well as Advanced Evidence and Procedure. The Independent Study module enables learners to focus on a subject of personal or professional relevance, bringing together their theoretical and practical knowledge to prepare for careers in criminal justice, security, or corporate investigation.
