COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Hospitality Management degree with pathways in tourism and events management is structured over three years, combining theory, practical experience, and professional development to prepare students for dynamic careers in hospitality, tourism, and events. In the first year, students study core subjects including Introduction to Hospitality, Events and Tourism, Business Practice, Principles of Sustainability, and Professional Development Essentials, alongside a live project that allows practical application of the concepts learned. This year provides exposure to all three pathways and encourages engagement with professional development, with growth evidenced through a graded portfolio. In the second year, students may continue with broad hospitality management training or specialise in a dedicated pathway in tourism or events management. Core modules focus on managing projects, people, and profit, investigations into industry practice, marketing, consumer behaviour, and professional development. Pathway-specific modules allow deeper exploration, such as Organisational Cultures and Innovation for Hospitality, Visitor Attractions and Responsible Tourism for tourism, and Event Health & Safety and Live Event Management for events. In the final year, students apply knowledge in practice through a live client project, a research project, and professional futures preparation. Pathway modules include designing hospitality experiences, sustainable tourism, and strategic event operations. Across all years, the program integrates practical application, industry insight, and professional skills, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for careers in the hospitality, tourism, and events sectors.
