COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Physician Associate Practice course is structured to provide students with a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional experience essential for a career as a physician associate. The program is divided into core modules that focus on developing medical knowledge, clinical skills, and professional behaviours required for effective patient care. The first module, Medical Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours for Patient Care 1, introduces students to foundational clinical concepts, patient assessment techniques, and core medical principles, enabling them to approach patient care with confidence and competence. The second module, Medical Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours for Patient Care 2, builds on this foundation by advancing diagnostic reasoning, clinical decision-making, and patient management skills, preparing students for increasingly complex healthcare scenarios. To complement theoretical learning, the course includes two professional placement modules, Professional Placement 1 and Professional Placement 2, which provide structured, supervised clinical experience in diverse healthcare settings. These placements allow students to apply their knowledge in real-world environments, develop communication and teamwork skills, and understand the practical challenges of patient care. By integrating rigorous academic study with hands-on clinical practice, the course ensures graduates are fully equipped to deliver high-quality healthcare, work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, and contribute meaningfully to patient outcomes.
