COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Sports Medicine course features a comprehensive range of compulsory and optional modules designed to develop advanced clinical, research, and applied skills in the field of sports medicine. Core modules include the Professional Project, which allows students to undertake a practical, work-based initiative that integrates learning and applied skills, and Trauma and Emergency Medical Management in Sport (TEMMiS), which provides essential knowledge for managing acute injuries and emergencies in sporting contexts. Physical Activity in Health and Disease examines the role of exercise in preventing and managing medical conditions, while Advanced Injury Assessment and Rehabilitation develops expertise in evaluating, treating, and rehabilitating musculoskeletal injuries. Research and Evidence-Based Practice Methods equips students with the skills to critically appraise and conduct research, supporting evidence-informed practice. Applied Sport and Exercise Science in Sports Medicine integrates scientific principles with practical application, and Introduction to Sport Psychology provides insight into the mental and psychological factors affecting athlete performance and wellbeing. Optional modules such as Work-Based Learning, Managing Concussion, Head and Neck Injuries in Sport, and Injection Therapy allow students to specialize further according to career goals.
