COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Psychology of Child Development course includes a series of compulsory modules that provide a comprehensive understanding of the key factors influencing children’s psychological growth. The module Social Relationships in Childhood examines how interactions with family, peers, and caregivers shape children’s emotional and social development. Development in Context explores the broader influences on child development, including cultural, environmental, and socioeconomic factors that impact learning and behavior. Language, Literacy and Learning focuses on how children acquire communication and literacy skills, emphasizing the relationship between language development, cognitive growth, and educational outcomes. Advanced Methods in Psychology equips students with the research skills necessary to design, conduct, and analyze psychological studies using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The Advanced Workplace Credit module offers students the opportunity to apply their academic learning in real-world professional settings, enhancing their practical experience and employability. Finally, the Advanced Psychology Project enables students to undertake an independent research project on a topic related to child development, integrating theory, research, and critical evaluation.
