COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Forensic Biology and Investigation course provides an in-depth understanding of how biological evidence is used to support criminal investigations and legal processes. Students study core areas including biological evidence analysis, crime scene procedures, and wildlife crime, learning how to collect, preserve, and interpret biological samples in line with ethical and legal standards. The “Crime Scene to Court” module ensures that students gain insight into the entire investigative process, from initial evidence collection to presenting findings in legal settings, emphasizing the application of scientific knowledge in practical and judicial contexts. The dissertation module allows students to undertake independent research, developing advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Optional modules offer the chance to specialize in areas such as forensic genetics, forensic taphonomy, and the identification of living or deceased individuals, providing flexibility to align studies with career goals.
