COURSE CURRICULUM

The MRes Medical Sciences program provides students with a structured yet flexible approach to developing advanced research skills in the medical and bioscience fields. Central to the course are two core modules: Research Methods in Medical Sciences and the Research Project in Medical Sciences. The Research Methods module equips students with a thorough understanding of scientific principles, study design, data collection and analysis, and research ethics, ensuring that they are able to plan and execute high-quality research. Complementing this, the Research Project module allows students to apply these skills in a practical, real-world setting by undertaking an original, independent research investigation under the guidance of expert supervisors. This hands-on experience fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to evaluate and interpret scientific evidence effectively. Throughout the program, students also develop transferable skills in scientific communication, teamwork, and project management, which are essential for professional success in academic, clinical, or industrial research environments.
