COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Scriptwriting course includes a series of compulsory modules that equip students with the creative and technical skills needed to write across a range of media formats. The module Research Methodologies introduces students to the analytical and critical research tools essential for developing ideas, understanding audiences, and situating creative work within professional and academic contexts. Writing for Film focuses on visual storytelling, teaching structure, pacing, and cinematic dialogue, while Writing for Radio develops skills in crafting engaging audio narratives that rely on sound, voice, and imagination. Writing for Television explores serial storytelling, character arcs, and the demands of episodic structure, preparing students for work in writers’ rooms and broadcast production. Writing for Stage emphasizes dramatic writing, dialogue, and live performance, allowing students to explore the unique relationship between script, actor, and audience. Writing the Video Game introduces the art of interactive storytelling, where player choice shapes narrative progression. The Scriptwriting Major Project serves as the culmination of the course, enabling students to create a substantial original script for their chosen medium, supported by professional feedback and supervision.
