COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Publishing course features a range of compulsory modules designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of the publishing industry and its key operations. The Digital Publishing module focuses on the rapidly evolving digital landscape, teaching students how to create, manage, and market digital content effectively across platforms. Communications: Working in Marketing, Publicity and Sales explores how to promote books and engage readers through strategic marketing campaigns, publicity initiatives, and sales techniques. The Editorial Department module provides insight into the editorial process, from commissioning and manuscript editing to production, helping students develop strong editorial judgment and project management skills. The Major Project: The Live Brief allows students to work on a real-world publishing challenge, applying their knowledge to practical industry scenarios while building professional experience. Publishing: Work Skills and Entrepreneurship focuses on the essential business and interpersonal skills required for success in publishing, encouraging entrepreneurial thinking and innovation. The Rights Department module covers the legal and commercial aspects of publishing, including copyright, licensing, and international rights management.
