COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB (Hons) Law with Criminology degree provides students with a comprehensive understanding of law alongside a focused study of criminology, equipping them for careers in legal practice, criminal justice, or criminology-related fields. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in core legal principles and criminological concepts through modules such as criminal law, contract law, English and EU legal systems, crime and morality, key approaches in criminology, and professional skills and employability. This combination develops critical thinking and introduces students to the social and legal contexts of crime. In the second year, the focus expands to more advanced legal and criminological study, including youth justice, punishment and the penal system, tort law, international and European law, and further professional skills development. Optional modules allow for specialization in areas such as digital investigation, drugs, crime and society, family law, and rights and responsibilities. The third year consolidates knowledge through compulsory modules like equity and trusts, land law, and diversity, crime and justice, while optional modules provide opportunities for in-depth exploration of topics such as human trafficking, prison and society, international humanitarian and criminal law, law clinics, and community-focused legal projects. The program emphasizes practical skills, research, and critical analysis, preparing graduates for professional practice in law, criminal justice, policy, and investigative roles.
