COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching course offers a structured program designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to become an effective coach across a range of sports and performance levels. In the first year, students study modules such as Understanding Sport Coaching and Pedagogy, Introduction to Performance Analysis for Sport Coaching, Developing the Performer, and Brain, Body and Behaviour: Psychology and Skill Acquisition, providing a strong foundation in coaching theory, athlete development, psychology, and performance analysis. The second year focuses on applying these principles in practice, with modules including Sport Industry Experience, Applied Performance Analysis in Sport Coaching, Skill Acquisition for Sport Coaching, and Developing Talent, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in coaching, monitoring, and enhancing athlete performance. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through Project Development, Project Realisation, and The Critically Reflective Coach, which encourage independent research, professional reflection, and applied problem-solving. Optional modules such as Performance Analysis and Recruitment Strategy in Football and Managing Talent Development provide further opportunities to specialise and gain expertise in specific areas of sport coaching. Overall, the course equips graduates with the practical skills, theoretical understanding, and professional competencies necessary to pursue careers in sport coaching, talent development, performance analysis, education, and related roles within the sports industry.
