COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Software Engineering course provides a comprehensive foundation in computer science and software development, preparing students for dynamic careers in technology. In the first year, students study modules such as The Computing Challenge, Introduction to Networking, Programming, Computer Systems and Security, and Systems Analysis and Database Design, gaining essential skills in coding, networking, database management, and system security. Optional modules like Games Concepts and Web Technologies allow students to explore creative and web-based applications. The second year focuses on developing advanced technical and professional skills through modules such as The Agile Professional, Software Development, Advanced Programming with C++, Cross Platform Development, Computational Thinking, and Cyber Security. These modules emphasize practical experience in modern programming environments, teamwork, and secure software design. In the final year, students complete an Honours Degree Project, demonstrating their ability to manage and deliver a large-scale software solution. Core modules include Distributed Systems, Advanced Software Modelling, and Data Science, while optional modules such as Computer Graphics, User Experience, and Artificial Intelligence offer specialization in emerging technologies.
