COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying course is structured to develop a comprehensive understanding of the technical, managerial, and financial aspects of construction. In the first year, students build a foundation through modules such as Construction Technology, Sustainability and Science, Management and Economics, Introduction to Law and Procurement, Professional Practice, and an Interdisciplinary Project. These modules introduce core principles of construction processes, sustainable practices, and the basics of legal and managerial frameworks. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced topics like Construction Technology 2, Production Economics, Contract Administration, Management and Project Planning, Construction Quantification, and Professional Practice 2B. These subjects enhance skills in cost management, project coordination, and contract handling. In the final year, students explore strategic and professional competencies through Project Management and BIM, Commercial Construction Management, Project Analysis and Appraisal, Business Practice and Law, and a Dissertation, which allows independent research on a relevant topic. Optional modules such as Facilities Management and Professional Practice – QS provide opportunities to specialize and apply theoretical knowledge in professional contexts. Overall, the course prepares students for a successful career as quantity surveyors by combining practical experience with a strong academic and professional foundation.
