COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Nutrition degree is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how diet, lifestyle, and food choices influence human health and wellbeing. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules covering core concepts in human nutrition, principles of cell biology and human physiology, food science, and dietary health. This initial year also emphasizes understanding wellbeing from behavioural, societal, and individual perspectives, enabling students to appreciate the broader context of nutrition. In the second year, the focus shifts to applied learning, with modules exploring physiology and metabolic function, nutritional needs across different stages of life, and the social and behavioural approaches that shape wellbeing. Students also gain practical experience in food science and nutrition, developing the skills necessary to assess and apply dietary interventions effectively. The final year emphasizes independent research and professional application through project development and realisation. Advanced modules in clinical biochemistry, preventative nutrition, functional foods, and sustainable nutrition allow students to investigate contemporary challenges, such as lifestyle-related diseases and global food sustainability. Graduates emerge equipped to apply evidence-based nutritional strategies, analyse dietary data, and communicate health guidance effectively, preparing them for careers in nutrition, public health, healthcare, food consultancy, or further postgraduate study.
