COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Nursing program is structured over three years to support the progressive development of knowledge, skills, and professional confidence required for adult nursing practice. In Year 1, students are introduced to the foundations of nursing through modules that explore how the body and mind work, the principles of adult nursing, and the expectations of professional practice. This stage focuses on building essential academic skills, understanding patient care, and gaining early exposure to adult nursing environments while meeting program requirements. Year 2 develops students’ ability to engage with more complex aspects of healthcare, including policy and politics, professional identity, and effective communication as a health professional. Students learn to care for acutely unwell adults, understand the importance of community-based care, and actively participate in adult nursing practice, with a strong emphasis on managing complex care needs. In Year 3, the focus shifts to preparing students for the transition to professional practice as newly qualified nurses. Modules emphasise leadership, clinical decision-making, and making a meaningful difference in adult nursing. Students refine their professional voice, develop confidence in leading care, and consolidate learning to meet final program requirements and enter the workforce as competent, compassionate adult nurses.
