COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Cyber Investigations with Digital Forensics program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of cybercrime, digital evidence, and investigative methodologies, preparing them for careers as digital investigators, cybersecurity specialists, and forensic analysts. In Year 1, students build foundational skills through modules such as Introduction to Networking, Computer Systems and Security, Introduction to Academic Skills, Digital Investigation Technologies, and Introduction to Investigation Skills. These modules develop technical knowledge, critical thinking, and the basic investigative competencies needed to work with digital evidence. Year 2 advances these skills with Digital Evidence and Incident Response, Cyber Security, Digital Investigation, Academic Skills 2, and Investigation Skills 2, allowing students to analyse cyber incidents, understand security threats, and apply forensic techniques in simulated and practical environments. In Year 3, students consolidate their expertise through Investigation Skills 3, Advanced Digital Investigation, Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT), and an independent Project, where they tackle complex investigations and develop research and problem-solving abilities. Optional modules such as Network Management, Penetration Testing, Advanced Cyber Security, Fraud and Asset Recovery, Counter Terrorism, and Investigating Exploitation allow students to specialise in emerging areas of cybercrime and forensic practice. Throughout the program, practical labs, case studies, and research projects enhance technical proficiency, analytical thinking, and professional competence. Graduates are prepared to enter careers in law enforcement, private investigation, digital forensics, intelligence, and cybersecurity, combining investigative insight with advanced technical skills to address modern cyber threats effectively.
