COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computer Games Development program equips students with the technical, creative, and analytical skills required to succeed in the dynamic games industry. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through modules such as The Computing Challenge, Introduction to Networking, Games Concepts, Programming, Computer Systems and Security, and Systems Analysis and Database Design. These modules introduce essential concepts in computing, software development, networking, and game theory, while developing core programming and problem-solving skills. Year 2 focuses on practical game development and advanced technical abilities with modules including The Agile Professional, Games Development 1, Software Development, Advanced Programming with C++, Computer Graphics, and Computational Thinking. Students learn to design, develop, and implement games, applying programming expertise, graphics techniques, and computational logic to real-world projects. In Year 3, the curriculum emphasizes specialization, innovation, and research through modules such as the Honours Degree Project, Games Development 2, Mathematics and Technologies for Games, and Artificial Intelligence, enabling students to integrate advanced technologies and AI into game design. Optional modules in areas like Cross-Platform Development, Human-Computer Interaction, and Data Science allow further focus and skill development. Throughout the course, students engage in collaborative projects, practical assignments, and industry-informed exercises, preparing them for careers as game designers, developers, programrs, technical artists, and other roles in interactive and digital entertainment industries.
