COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Building Surveying course offers a comprehensive education in the technical, managerial, and legal aspects of the built environment, combining academic study with practical experience. In Year 1, students are introduced to key principles of construction and property through modules such as Construction Technology, Sustainability and Science, Management and Economics, and Introduction to Law and Procurement. They also engage in Professional Practice and an Interdisciplinary Project to develop teamwork and problem-solving skills in real-world contexts. Year 2 advances this knowledge with modules including Construction Technology 2, Building Services, Production Economics, Contract Administration, Management and Project Planning, and Town Planning and Development Control, giving students a deeper understanding of building performance, design management, and regulatory frameworks. Professional Practice 2: BS enhances industry awareness and practical competencies. In the final year, the course focuses on specialized and professional skills through modules such as Maintenance Management, Building Conservation, Project Analysis and Appraisal, and a major Dissertation, allowing students to research a specific area of interest. Optional modules like Facilities Management and Owning and Leasing Land enable further career-focused study.
