COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science program provides a thorough grounding in the study of human health, disease, and biological function through a blend of theory, laboratory work, and research. In Year 1, students develop a solid foundation in biological sciences through modules such as Fundamentals of Biosciences, Essential Skills in Biosciences, and Biosciences in Practice, which introduce core concepts and laboratory techniques. Year 2 builds on this foundation with more specialized study in areas including Bioscience Practical Skills, Biology of Disease, Molecules to Cells, and Tissues to Organisms, deepening understanding of cellular processes, molecular biology, and disease mechanisms. The final year emphasizes advanced biomedical applications and independent research. Students complete a Research Project that allows them to investigate a specific area of biomedical science in depth while gaining valuable analytical and scientific skills. Core modules such as Blood Sciences for Biomedical Sciences, Infection Sciences for Biomedical Sciences, and Molecular and Cellular Pathology explore diagnostic methods and the biological basis of various diseases. Throughout the course, students gain practical experience in laboratory environments and learn to apply scientific principles to real-world health challenges, preparing them for careers in medical laboratories, clinical research, biotechnology, or further postgraduate and professional study.
