COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Bioveterinary Sciences course provides an in-depth study of animal biology, health, and disease through an integration of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. In Year 1, students are introduced to the core principles of animal anatomy, physiology, and health through modules such as Structure and Function I and II, Disease and Defence I and II, and Integrated Bioveterinary Sciences. These modules develop an understanding of how animal systems operate and respond to disease, while Animal Behaviour, Housing, and Husbandry explores the relationship between animals, their environments, and human management practices. In Year 2, the program advances to more specialized areas, focusing on scientific research and the ethical aspects of animal care. Modules such as Research in Bioveterinary Sciences, Technical and Communication Skills, and Animal Welfare, Ethics, and Human-Animal Interactions emphasize analytical thinking, laboratory competence, and professional communication. Students also undertake a Research Project that allows them to apply their learning to real-world bioveterinary challenges, alongside studying Global Applications in Bioveterinary Sciences to understand international perspectives on animal health and welfare. The course combines scientific investigation, ethical awareness, and technical training, preparing graduates for careers in animal research, veterinary support, biotechnology, or further study in veterinary or biological sciences.
