COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Hons) Renewable and Sustainable Energy Engineering course provides a comprehensive education in modern energy systems, sustainability, and engineering principles. In the first year, students study modules such as Design and Sustainability, Engineering Analysis, Engineering Practice, Fundamentals of Engineering Science, Introduction to Renewable Energy, and Introduction to Geoenergy Solutions for Climate Resilience. These subjects build a foundation in core engineering concepts and introduce sustainable design and renewable technologies. The second year advances this knowledge through modules like Power Systems and Energy Conversion, GeoEnergy Engineering, Sustainable Energy in the Built Environment, Thermo-fluids, Operations Management A, and Further Engineering Mathematics and Simulation. Students develop analytical, technical, and management skills essential for energy system design and performance analysis. In the final year, core modules include Sustainable Energy and Power Generation Systems, Renewable Energy Systems Design and Analysis, and an Engineering Project with Sustainability, allowing students to apply their learning in practical and research-based contexts. Optional modules such as Power Systems Operation and Control, Life Cycle Thinking and Sustainable Waste Management Solutions, Energy and Carbon Management, and Geotechnology for Sustainable Energy Futures enable specialization. Overall, the program prepares graduates to engineer innovative, sustainable energy solutions to address global environmental and energy challenges.
